Unique features of the ScatterWeb technology
ScatterWeb consists of hard-
and software for long-living wireless multi-hop
networks. It provides the following features:

Hardware modularity
As different applications
require different sensors, the ScatterNode hardware
follows a modular approach. Whether designing an
adaptation board for the ScatterNode or
integrating it into an existing solution, it
provides a number of analog and digital input
and output ports for free programming access.
Attached sensors can even be powered by the
ScatterNode.
Flexible routing
The ScatterWeb routing algorthims exploit the energy-efficient
hardware and combines long lifetimes with rapid
notification of events over a long chain of nodes. This
is achieved by time-synchronized communication and
extremely short idle listening times. The routing
features redundancy and resiliency against
transmission failures. Redundancy is achieved by
maintaining alternative routes in the nodes.
Transmission failures are immediately noticed by
missing acknowledgements and handled by
retransmissions, fast selection of a new neighbor
and eventually switching the sub channel of the 868
MHz band.
Documented Software
Interfaces
There are different
interfaces for the integration of ScatterWeb
technology into existing software infrastructures:
-
Custom firmware add-on
-
AT-style interface for OEM
module integration
-
Serial and .NET-interface
for PC/PDA visualization and management
-
The ScatterWeb SDK provides
documentation and easy access to these parts of
ScatterWeb.
